Fighting Fatigue: What To Eat And What Not To Eat

All of us can use more energy rather than no energy at all? Most of us feel that we don’t have enough energy, and when we’re feeling especially low, the readymade foods and drinks which we opt for 90% of the time, tend to be high in carbohydrates, especially from sugar or caffeine. These foods and drinks can give you a temporary boost, but it’s often followed by a crash.
So now the question is what we should eat and drink to improve our energy? There are a lot of options which are healthier than what you’ll find in most vending machines, and the list is actually big and includes a lot of foods you like but didn’t know could boost your energy up in the morning or during that mid-afternoon slump.

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

We always underestimate the power of a bowl of salad and a serving of fruits or just don’t want to admit its benefit, maybe because it is very available to us. Fresh fruits and vegetables are full of vital nutrients that help to keep the metabolism strong and improve energy levels and overall health as well. Also, the energy provided is not only quick but at a more consistent rate, and this helps the body to cope better with demanding mental and physical work for a longer time. These are ideal foods and first on my list that prevent fatigue and depression.

Unprocessed Food

We always crave for burgers, pasta, French fries, boxed meals, ready-to-eat snacks, and other such items because it seems like enticing options when low on energy or just for taste even when we are not hungry, but they are no doubt bad for health and provide no nutrition to the body. Instead, they cause sharp spikes and dips in sugar levels that further lead you to feel a burst of energy and then feeling thoroughly wiped off. Opt for unprocessed food options if you are going for readymade foods and drinks like whole grains, brown bread sandwiches, or a glass of milk, which are better food options that prevent fatigue.

Hydrate with Non-Caffeinated Drinks

A cup of coffee daily is okay, but when coffee becomes the habit or your go-to drink to get by every hour, then it is definitely harmful to health. The options you can go for instead are fresh fruit juices, milkshakes, green tea, or smoothies to help low energy levels. These make for nutritious options for foods that prevent fatigue.

Whole Grains and Complex Carbohydrates

Most of us have a habit of skipping breakfast for a little bit of extra sleep or choose unhealthy options like bagels, doughnuts, or high-calorie snacks when we are running late. To have consistent energy levels throughout the day, opt an oatmeal breakfast or have whole grain options like whole-wheat pancakes, multigrain sandwiches, or quinoa. They have a high amount of good quality carbohydrates that provide fuel to our brains and muscles, so they work efficiently and make great foods to fight fatigue.

Proteins

To fight fatigue you need strong backup energy and nothing beats that like proteins. Beans, tofu, cottage cheese, and sprouts are foods that fight fatigue. Most of these are rich in magnesium that helps to restore the energy levels.

Water

Most of the time we forgot to account for dehydration or if we have taken the needed amount of water today or not. There is no replacement for water for most of our body problems. Water helps the body to work optimally without adding any calories. It is a perfect drink and a perfect blessing whenever you are feeling down and out.
